It was a quite a weepy bunch of chapters this time around
Let's see:
1. Jesus, Subaru!! This boy needs some self-preservation, stat! And to think that this was of your own will. What does it mean for him to want to be like Seishirou? Do you just want the lack of depth perception or does this also entail something else?
I actually fear to know what Fuuma seems to know about his true wish.
2. Poor Kamui: all his potential beaus are in a bad place (1-eye Subaru, no parent Segawa). His crush on Subaru, if not apparent before, it totally obvious now.
3. Yuzuriha broke my heart. She's so sweet and endearing when she makes Kamui and Subaru promise to call on her the next time they're in battle and then...argh. First to be caught off guard in such a way and then Inuki. I broke down. He had been her friend forever and then to lose him and...Christ. But I am generally traumatized by the murder of companionate animals (yes, even spirit animals).
4. Arashi clearly still bears the scars of living on the street. While she is basically right about the ties between choosing to eat and choosing to live (debates about eating disorders avoided for the moment), most people don't think of it that way. She's obviously someone who has had to force herself to move forward.
5. Karen - Her backstory is a bit Carrie-esque but it was still somewhat compelling. When Seiichiro told her that he'd mourn her if she died, I lost it. Haven't we all been there (on not such a grand scale, of course): we don't believe we're worth it and then someone comes in and shatters it all with just a few words.
Viz fuck up of the week: "Subaru is hospitalized in the aftermath of his showdown against Seiichiro..."
Seiichiro?! Perhaps you mean Fuuma, person who comes of with back cover blurb? Do these two people even look the same?
