Project Runway EP 13: Reactions

First off, Tim interacting with anyone’s family members was cute. I immediately recollect him with Michael mother (whom he would have met through the “Everyday Woman” Challenge) and they were both very sweet.

Nearly every one of these folks has enviable real estate. The view of the ocean Uli has from her apartment is stellar. Also –

I have to say that it was interesting hearing a non-American talking about the “American Dream.” I find it (the dream) is hard to connect to and I’ve noticed that many of my friends feel the same way. It was very interesting hearing a foreigner talking about her thoughts on the dream. Her words make me think that I should look a bit closer and that the dream isn’t as far away as distant as some Americans believe it to be.

The Clothes - Reevaluated

Laura: I was surprised by how much color we saw when Tim visited. I didn’t hate the “chartreuse lollipop” and was sad to see it go. I noticed a lot of people are criticizing her collection for being too monochromatic. I wonder what made her pare down the collection to what we saw/will see.

Uli: She doesn’t show the range she’s capable of to Tim. I still have high hopes for Uli.

Michael: The long white dress seems less shiny than it appeared in photographs. Although I’m not happy with the other things I’ve seen in his collection, I still have high hopes for Michael.

Jeffrey: His clothes look much better on screen then they do in photographs. I especially liked the green striped dress (the one Marilinda will be wearing) and had not realized that he used zippers to make the outlines. The halter dress, however, still looks bad and much too baggy. I’ll definitely be interested to see how things look on camera. That said: the wigs that he brought with him confuse me. He explained to the “hair” guy that the wigs showed the look he wanted yet I don’t see any models wearing them on the runway.

The Drama aka SewGate

Jeff obviously shows at Olympus Fashion Week (we've all seen the pictures). I would hate if they did a whole “Jeff can show but his collection will not count” thing, therefore making Jeff the dreaded “decoy.” Although Laura was right to voice her suspicions (I too would be suspicious of someone who had NOTHING to do while I and the others still had things to finish), those suspicions can’t be conclusively proven. Even if he did have outside help, he would be smart enough to doctor receipts so that this cheating wouldn’t show. It would be like Season 1 - Kara Saun’s ShoeGate all over again. I don’t believe that Jeffrey cheated. All his interviews and bonus video info point to someone who has some sort of integrity.

Is Jeffrey an ass? Probably. Is Laura a bitch? Probably. Although I’m interested in the personalities on the show, I’m most interested in these people making clothes.

I noticed that the Promo Monkeys (I’m sure the term came from TwoP) haven’t shown much of Jeffrey during the spots for the finale. Oh Bravo! Your misdirection will not fool me (unless Jeff is out at which point I cringe and shout something like “Damn you Bravo and your misdirection!”).

My choices for winning still go as follows: Uli, Michael and Jeffrey, Laura. Since the events of Episode 13, Jeffrey and Michael are on an even field for second.
