There wasn’t much time left.

Tatsuki could feel a sense of foreboding trickle across her skin. The war was coming. She wouldn’t be training with Urahara Kisuke was it not so. She didn’t understand what she was fighting or what her body was suddenly doing, but she knew that she had to move forward. It was hard, grueling work and her training generally took up much of the day and night. But she kept moving on. Someone was depending on her.

At the very most, the world was counting upon the actions of someone like her. At the least, there was one life counting on her.

Orihime was waiting. She couldn’t let her down.

It was his job to train them. Someone else could do it, but no one else would do it well.

Kira had a division to run now. They were broken but adaptable. He wasn’t sure if he was the same. A little voice in the back of his mind kept reminded him of his role in the rebellion. He could barely remember anything that Gin had told him within that week. He just remembered doing it. He had thought that he had mended the relationships with the people he hurt. Apparently it wasn’t so. Matsumoto had been very cautious of him since her return from the real world. Perhaps, he thought, it was harder to forgive once you realized what the stakes were.

Still, he fought on.

His friends were waiting. He couldn’t let them down.

His world was nearly timeless. Why was it changing?

Hueco Mundo was the land of the hollows. He hated hearing about those silly shinigami wandering throughout his land. Sure, they had tried to win him over to their side. But he knew what they wanted. A Vasto Lorde was a prime target for them. Why should he turn to their side? He knew that he was probably stronger than the strongest one of them. He didn’t need their protection. He knew that at least one of his kind had switched sides. He had noticed him with the shinigami when they came to win his favor. Before they had left, he had asked the newly formed arrancar if it was really worth it. He had received no response.

That was why he trained now. Silly hollows were changing sides without thinking about what the consequences. That was why he trained. That was why he fought.

His world was waiting. He couldn’t let it down.
